How to fix a drywall hole so it holds a screw

BoaBond SWR expands behind the wall and cures rigid, so the patch can carry up to 50 lb per anchor point.

What you'll need

  • BoaBond SWR 50 mL cartridge or Starter Kit
  • PAK-50 dispensing gun
  • Static mixing nozzle
  • Wall-repair mesh
  • Injection plate
  • Painter's tape
  • Utility knife
  • Isopropyl alcohol
  • Sanding block

Step by step

A general sequence. Always follow the product TDS for working time, cure and temperature limits.

01

Clean the hole

Scrape out loose or crumbling material with a utility knife. Wipe the area with isopropyl alcohol.

02

Set the mesh

Cut mesh about twice the diameter of the hole and press it firmly into the opening.

03

Tape the injection plate

Place the plate over the mesh with the port at the top and tape it down.

04

Prep the cartridge

Load the gun, remove the cap and fit the nozzle. Dispense a 4 in bead until the mix runs an even light blue.

05

Inject

Put the nozzle in the port and fill from back to front. Tape over the port while it expands and cures.

06

Finish

After it cures, sand flush, then paint, texture or drill.
